universal Council of
Ophthalmology
The group focuses on clinical and basic research in ophthalmology. The main topics of interest are refractive surgery, cataract, and keratoconus. In refractive surgery, the group is among the first research groups investigating newly introduced laser-assisted surface-ablative refractive surgery, Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy (Trans-PRK). Collaboration of the group with German clinicians and physicists lead to a bi-national and bi-central study in refractive surgery, the first one of its kind in the field in Iran.
The group aims to take advantage of an inter-disciplinary and international network (Medicine, Physics, Engineering, Pharmacology, Nanotechnology, and Artificial Intelligence) involving an academic setting, private sector, and industry in order to enhance the efficacy of different therapeutic modalities in the treatment of refractive errors, cataract, keratoconus, and to make a worldwide platform to provide a great opportunity for young scientists to act and grow and make advancements in ophthalmology filed.
